Jonah 4 is one of the most intriguing parts of this famous account Jonah preaches to the wicked city of Nineveh and they repent and Jonah is upset and angry about it He wants them destroyed In this chapter God tries to work on Jonahs heart just as the message of God had worked on the hearts of Nineveh But Jonah is terribly angry and bitter The question God asks that ends the book is powerful but provides a strange ending to this book Jonah 41011 The book feels unfinished because there is no answer given to the question but it is not unfinished The hanging question is the point And it is a point we need to continue to grasp in our own lives

Psalm 119916 reminded us of the walk Psalm 1193340 reminded us of the desire Both are necessary to know God However if we are going to know God and follow Him there is a promise we must make as well Not surprisingly it involves the Word of God Even when we become a Christian we must continue to draw nearer to God From Psalm 1195764 we will notice two related promises we must make if we are going to draw nearer to God each day
